Phnom Penh Airport Arrival Guide

Techo International Airport (KTI) is the main airport serving Phnom Penh. It opened for commercial operations in September 2025 and sits about 20 kilometres south of the capital, so arriving well means planning the city transfer—not treating the terminal as central Phnom Penh.

Check the code on your ticket

KTI replaced the former Phnom Penh airport for commercial passenger services. Older articles, maps and saved transfers may still refer to PNH. Use the airport code and terminal details shown on your current airline booking.

Before you fly

Confirm entry requirementsVisa eligibility depends on nationality and purpose of travel. Use Cambodia’s official e-Visa website rather than an unofficial application service.

Prepare the e-Arrival formCambodia’s official e-Visa portal currently advises travellers to submit the Cambodia e-Arrival within seven days before arrival, including travellers who already hold a visa. Check the instruction again before departure.

Save your first address offlineKeep the accommodation name, full address, telephone number and a map pin available without mobile data.

Arrange assistance earlyIf you need wheelchair or mobility assistance, contact your airline when booking or before travel rather than waiting until arrival.

What happens after landing

Follow the current signs through immigration, baggage claim and customs. Keep your passport and arrival information accessible until you have completed the formalities. Screens in the baggage hall identify the carousel for each flight.

Report baggage trouble before leaving

If a bag is missing, delayed or damaged, report it at the Lost & Found service in the baggage-claim area and keep the written reference. The airport also has an information counter in the arrivals hall for later assistance.

Choosing the journey into Phnom Penh

The best choice depends on arrival time, luggage, group size and the location of your accommodation. Traffic conditions vary, so avoid promising a driver, hotel or activity an exact city-arrival time immediately after landing.

Public transport

Airport Express Bus

The airport currently lists daily service from 05:30 to 23:30 between KTI and Kouch Kanong Circle Bus Station. The route follows Hun Sen Boulevard and Monivong Boulevard.

Direct journey

Airport taxi

Licensed taxi services are available at the terminal exit. Confirm the destination and displayed or agreed fare before departure.

Book by phone

Ride-hailing apps

The airport lists Grab, WowNow and PassApp. Check the vehicle registration and use the pickup point shown by the service.

Easiest after a long flight

Pre-arranged transfer

A hotel or driver pickup can suit families, late arrivals or travellers with substantial luggage. Save the meeting instructions and contact details offline.

Current Airport Express Bus stops

The airport identifies four designated stops along the route:

  1. Canadia Garden, in front of Royal Cambodian Railways
  2. Royal University of Law and Economics
  3. Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard at Bred Bank
  4. Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard at AEON Mall Mean Chey

The most useful stop depends on your final address. A bus journey may still require a short taxi or app-based ride. Service hours, stops and pickup arrangements can change, so check the airport’s current page before relying on them.

Money and connectivity on arrival

The airport currently lists banking, currency exchange and multiple ATMs in the public arrivals area after customs. Withdraw or exchange only what you expect to need initially, read every fee or conversion prompt and keep a second payment method separately.

If you need a local SIM or eSIM, compare the current options and activation requirements rather than accepting the first offer automatically. Airport Wi-Fi or a pre-arranged connection can help you message your accommodation and locate the correct pickup point, but keep essential information saved offline.

Late arrivals, families and accessibility

For a late flight, confirm that your chosen transport will still be operating and tell the accommodation when you expect to arrive. Families may prefer a pre-arranged vehicle and should request any required child restraint in advance rather than assuming one is provided.

The airport says wheelchair-accessible restrooms and baby-care rooms are available throughout the terminal. Airline-arranged mobility support remains the safest plan because assistance requirements can involve both the airline and airport teams.

A calm first evening

Connect and confirmMessage your accommodation or pickup contact only after you are ready to leave the terminal.

Verify the vehicleMatch the registration, driver or booking details before getting in.

Keep the evening simpleChoose food, water and rest close to the hotel instead of scheduling a fixed attraction after an international arrival.

Plan only the next stepConfirm the following morning’s essentials once you have checked in and recovered from the journey.
