Siem Reap Airport Arrival Guide

Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI) is around 50 kilometres from Siem Reap city. A calm arrival begins by arranging the ground transfer and understanding that the airport is not beside the old town or Angkor’s main temples.

Choose the transfer before flying

A pre-arranged hotel car is often the simplest option after a long international journey. Shared and private airport transport may also operate. Confirm the provider, price, meeting point and whether late arrival changes the arrangement. Save these details offline.

Allow real travel time

The road journey varies with traffic, weather and your accommodation’s location. Do not book a temple sunset, dinner reservation or onward bus too close to landing. Your first Angkor morning will be better after food, water and sleep.

First-night essentials

  • Carry the hotel’s name in English and, when available, Khmer.
  • Keep a small payment option accessible.
  • Confirm the next morning’s pickup directly with your driver or hotel.
  • Buy an Angkor pass only through the official ticketing route.

Make the arrival easier

Decide the transfer before you land

Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport is outside the city, so the first transfer deserves more planning than an ordinary urban airport arrival. Save the accommodation address offline and decide whether you will use the official airport bus, an airport transport counter or a pre-arranged pickup.

  1. 01Check today’s options

Schedules, fares and promotions can change. Use the airport’s own transport information shortly before travel.

  2. 02Know the final connection

The airport bus may finish at its town station rather than at your accommodation. Plan the last short transfer as well.

  3. 03Keep the first evening light

Allow for immigration, baggage and the journey into town before committing to dinner, tickets or a timed activity.
