Koh Touch
The main arrival area has the broadest concentration of boats, restaurants and budget accommodation. It is convenient and social, but not the best choice for every traveller seeking silence.
Long Set, Sok San and quieter bays
Beaches farther from the main pier can feel calmer, though transport and services vary. Confirm the exact arrival pier and transfer with accommodation before leaving the mainland.
Island nature and communities
Beaches are only one part of Koh Rong. Forest paths, mangrove areas and village-based initiatives reveal more of the island. The Ministry of Tourism has highlighted community ecotourism and plastic-reduction efforts around Prek Svay and Prek Ta Sok.
Development is changing access, roads and the character of some areas. Support local businesses, reduce waste and avoid treating villages as attractions.
How many days?
Three nights gives useful breathing room and reduces the risk of losing most of the visit to transfers or weather. Stay longer if the island is your main rest stop.
When to visit
Drier months usually bring calmer conditions, while the wet season can mean rougher crossings and cancellations. Conditions change quickly; confirm boats and weather directly with operators.
Getting there
Passenger boats generally connect the Sihanoukville area with several island piers. Schedules, operators and arrival points change, so book for your exact beach rather than simply “Koh Rong.” Never assume the final connection runs after dark.
